Careys to equip sites with bleed kits from emergency bandages charity, RAPAID
Careys has equipped its workforce with bleed kits from emergency bandages charity, RAPAID, to help improve health and safety on site.
The move not only allows the Careys team to have immediate access to military-style bandages that can prevent an injured person from bleeding out, it also means the company is supporting the RAPAID charity. Every penny spent on emergency bandages kits supports RAPAID’s mission to equip taxis across the UK with their life-saving emergency bandage kits. The charity has already equipped taxis in London, Manchester, Swindon, Oxford, Exeter, and Plymouth, which display green stickers, showing that the kits are on board. The idea is that cabs are in constant circulation so any member of the public can flag one down should there be an accident or incident and a need to stop the bleed until the emergency services arrive.
With site work being such a big part of the company’s day-to-day work, we decided to reinforce our site safety by purchasing RAPAID kits for our site teams.
We first learned about RAPAID emergency bandage kits when a member of our team spotted RAPAID’s co-founder, Alex Chivers, talking about RAPAID on morning television. The immediate benefit of RAPAID was clear and considered to be a fantastic initiative, so it was proposed that the kits be provided to each of Careys’ site teams.
Having delved a little deeper into RAPAID, Careys Regional HSSQ Manager, Liam Boyle, discovered that each RAPAID kit has an 8-year shelf-life and contains everything needed to stop the bleed without the need for any training or experience. Liam contacted Alex to ask about the possibility of purchasing kits for our teams and, following a brief conversation, Alex sent up a trial kit, so that we could see for ourselves just how quick and easy RAPAID kits are to use.
